Our trainers are certified AKC CGC, CGCA, CGCU, Trick dog evaluators and certified through Fetch Find training along with 10+ years experience with show and pet dogs. 

Group Classes  
Training classes teach you how to best communicate with your dog. Organized training classes also provide an opportunity for your dog to socialize with other dogs. Classes are held by one or both trainers (Josie and Jan.) Owners must be present and handling their dogs for the classes. Vaccine records and payment for class need to be sent in PRIOR to the start of class (your vet can email them to coopercreekkennelsia@gmail.com.) Obedience classes are not evals for daycare or boarding. Classes are held in Spring and Fall. 
 

What to bring to classes/lessons:

-Regular flat buckle collar

-Training collar- Chain collar or Prong collar if you have already been sized for one. 

-5'-6' leash or slip lead

-Treats or favorite toy

-Water &Water bowl

Requirements:

-Dogs must be current on Rabies (age appropriate), Distemper/parvo and Bordetella vaccines and have them on file prior to class. Full payment must be made to hold your spot upon confirming dates. Vaccinations can be sent to coopercreekkennelsia@gmail.com

Group Classes

S.T.A.R Puppy Class (for dogs under 1 year)

S ocialization  T raining   A ctivity   R esponsibility

This is a 6 week class for puppies 3-12 months old. It is aimed at earning the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy distinction. In this class you’ll be able to get information on all of your puppy-raising questions including potty training, chewing, and the most effective way to teach practical skills such as coming when called, walking on a leash, sit and down. AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy training is a natural lead in to the AKC Canine Good Citizen Program. Please be committed to making every class and working at home/throughout the week, not just on class day. Dogs must attend all 6 classes to pass. Treats and toys may be brought but may not always be used. Upon passing the test, you’ll get an application to send to AKC for optional enrollment in the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy Program. This includes:
  • A beautiful, frame-able certificate designating your puppy is in the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy records at AKC

  • Ongoing Monthly Email Newsletter: This includes training tips and up-to-date information every dog owner needs to know.

  • STAR puppy medalion

Beginner Class (GCC Canine Good Citizen Class) 

This 6 week class is for dogs 6 months and up to prepare for real world obedience as well as the CGC test. No prior classes are required although dog aggressive or human aggressive dogs will need to have prior private lessons or completed a board and train. Included in class is a training collar. The CGC Test is noncompetitive, and dogs are not required to perform with the same precision required in formal obedience.

Dogs that pass all 10 items of the CGC test, including purebreds and mixed breeds, are listed in the CGC records at the American Kennel Club. Non passing dogs have the option of  retaking the 6 week course until they pass. Board and train graduates are 1/2 price for the 6 week class or testing. Owners of dogs that pass all 10 items of the CGC test may order an official CGC certificate from the American Kennel Club, or if their dog has an AKC, PAL, or AKC Canine Partners number, the dog can be awarded an official title.

CGC and Trick dog Testing

April 17th 6pm

June 5th 6pm

All breeds and levels. All tests are done from CGC- CGCA and Trick dog novice- advanced on each day. Vaccinations must be sent in prior. Dogs do not have to be AKC registered or have done prior classes. For more information on

Cost: $20. $10 for board and train graduates. Sign up by emailing vaccinations to coopercreekkennelsia@gmail.com include class date and level. Space is limited. Cost for the test day $20, you can do both CGC testing and Trick dog on the same day. Non passing tests do not get refunded. Aggressive dogs are automatically DQ.

Advanced (Off Leash Class)

Goals- this class will build off of the CGC/intermediate class and start the dogs for Off-Leash obedience training. **E-Collars are required for off leash training** Dogs will work on commands- heel, sit, down, stay, come and place while off lead. Included in the class is a 20' long line and cot. Trips may be taken taken to public areas during this class. Training collar (prong or chain) and E-Collar is required. If you do not have an e-collar, include *need ecollar* in the email and we will order one for you. Dogs must be over 6 months old, have current vaccinations on file and have completed an intermediate class, CGC certification or 2 week board and train. Please be committed to making every class and working at home/throughout the week, not just on class day. Treats and toys may be brought but may not always be used.

March 15th- April 19th 6-7pm

Cost- $200. $100 board and train graduates. If you do not have an e-collar, include *need ecollar* and we will order one for you. *ecollar is an additional $150

Therapy Dog Preparation Class 

Goals- This class is meant to prepare dogs for the TDI (Therapy Dogs International) Certification test. Dogs are introduced to hospital equipment, moving doors, loud noises, elevators, public spaces, crowds, proper greetings, leave it, group and individual down stay, stay with owner out of sight, recall on 20' line. Dogs must be over 1 year to do testing, dogs cannot be human/dog aggressive or fearful. Requirements- Intermediate class, CGC certification or approved board and train graduates. Class meets for 6 weeks.

Private Lessons

Private lessons are great to start with for us to teach your dog and you without the distraction of others if you are unsure how your dog will react around other people and dogs. 

Obedience, Rally, Agility, Dog or Human Aggression. No personal protection work. One on One hour lessons here with one of 2 trainers. Must be at least 3 months and have all age appropriate vaccines. Inquire for availability by messaging through text or email. You must be at the lesson the entire time handling your dog.

Private lessons

Want to just chat or get advice? Set up a call- up to an hour can be devoted to answering any of your training questions. $50

Daytrain

Daytrain

Daytrain is for dogs who are already at daycare and have already been through either private lessons or class to have obedience and manners refresh lessons twice a week. Dogs must come in 2x a week to daycare for 4 weeks and will get a lesson during the day. Cost is $160 added to daycare cost. Owners get grades and homework emailed at the end of the week. Owners are not present for these lessons. Dogs must have passed daycare/boarding eval prior to signing up for daytrain.

Board and Train

This is NOT to get out of training your dog, you will have homework and still have to work and train your own dog at home! Board and Train fills up quickly for the year.

2 Week Basic Obedience Board and Train

This is for dogs older than 4 months that are not showing signs of human/dog aggression, extreme fearfulness, pottying in the crate or severe separation anxiety. For work on severe behavioral issues- 4 week minimum. Depending on severity, extra weeks may be needed. Additional weeks are $400. Refresher weeks for previous Grads $400. 2 week cost break down- boarding (420) supplies (250) daily lessons and follow up lessons (400) = $1,070 value
